Beauty: Splurge vs Steal

My beauty routine is fairly simple, but there are 2 things I must start with each morning.

1. Primer

By applying primer as your very first step this will help minimize your pore size, redness around the nose and foundation streaks. The primer will help keep your make up last through out the day.

2. Tinted moisturizer 

Great for light coverage, daily use and beach days! (I always apply this with a foundation brush) 

Here are my favorites! I use the Neturogena Primer and Laura Mercier Tinter Moisturizer (a mixture of a splurge & steal)

What’s your Summer Must have Look?

Crop top central over here!

Right now my summer MUST have is my crop tops. I love pairing them with long maxi skirts. It gives the body a very slimming look.

Here’s my go to look!

– Crop top

-High waisted maxi skirt

-Bracelets galore!

-Bright nail polish – the more neon the better

– Tall gladiator sandals

– Can’t forget my aviators

-And I won’t leave home without my brown satchel (Yes, it’s ok to mix this black & brown look)

Noodle Free Spaghetti, is that possible?

YES! it’s totally possible and so much better than pasta.

Never in a million years would I thought I’d crave squash. Ever since I’ve changed my diet to no bread, pasta and dairy I’ve felt a 1000 times healthier. I’m pretty sure I’m allergic to gluten. By going wheat-free in my diet, it’s seriously calmed down my bloated belly that would be so painful after eating a piece of bread.

I was recently introduced to Spaghetti Squash. Once it’s baked, you top turkey meat with sauce and you get this amazing crunchy “noodle” taste. My mouth is seriously watering thinking about it. Try it tonight, I promise you’re going to fall in love.

What you need:

  • 1 large Spaghetti Squash
  • Package of ground turkey meat
  • Your favorite pasta sauce

Directions:

  • Cut the squash in half (once you get about 3/4 of it cut you can just break the rest of it open since it’s hollow inside)
  • Completely remove all the seeds and other middle yucky stuff
  • Bake in the oven at 400 degrees for 45 minutes
  • Start browning your turkey meat and add the sauce
  • Remove the squash and let cool for about 5 minutes
  • With a fork, scrape the inside of the squash to get the pasta like texture
  • Place your portion in a bowl, top with meat, sauce and ENJOY!

Waalah! You have pasta free spaghetti!

Is Today, THE day?

This last week has been an interesting week. The day before my birthday I was feeling extremely down. I was feeling like here I am, about to turn 27 and I’m as old as a dinosaur. Now here’s the thing, I know I”m going to look back when I’m in my 40’s/50’s and think “What a brat, 27 is young!” I gave myself a few days to be dramatic about it and then I decided to snap out of it. This is probably the only time in my life I’m going to be able to be selfish and do things for me. I can be silly, I can work 80 hrs a week if I want and go on spontaneous trips. I decided Today is THE DAY I’m going to embrace the rest of my 20’s. I’m going to do more good for the world (well as much as I can), I’m going to do more thoughtful things, I’m going to sleep in on my days off and from here on out I’m going to be happy no matter what!

Easy 6 Ingrediant Green Smoothie..Say what?

Don’t let the green color scare you!

(It mainly taste like pineapple)

Within in the last few months, I’ve really become a juicing and smoothie freak! I’ve researched so many, tired so many but have had a hard time finding the perfect mix, so I started experimenting on my own.

Low calorie, low sugar and HIGH protein is very important to me. But keep in mind these are “Good For Your Calories”

I typically make this in the morning, or for a afternoon snack.

  • Handful of Spinach
  • 2 Tablespoons of Plain Greek non-fat yogurt (Trader Joes is great for that)
  • 1/4 to 1/2 cup of frozen Pineapple
  • 1/2 a frozen banana (Cut in to pieces and freeze prior, it makes the drink colder!)
  • 1 scoop of protein powder (my go-to is women’s protein from Trader Joes)
  • Add about 1/4 to 1/2 cup of water

Blend until frozen bananas and pineapple are completely blended
